- Increasing computing power makes new attacks possible: much of today´s software (mostly originating from the US) still uses 40-bit-encryption (or worse) which can be broken by current workstations in a short time; classical 56-bit-DES and short RSA keys are becoming alarmingly insecure; many users are not aware of the insecurity of a software that seems to offer „unbreakable encryption“.
